Writer: Jackee'Jackee'

As a full time entrepreneur ,single mother of five, balancing responsibilities can often have me feeling overwhelmed . The demands of running a business and caring for my children sometimes places financial pressure at the forefront of my mind. However, it's crucial for me to prioritize self .

Self-care, self-love, self-worth, and self-awareness over chasing financial success. In this society it has been deemed that income is most important and how you feel comes second.

By focusing on my well-being, I not only nurturing my physical and mental health but also becoming a more present and resilient mother and business owner. Self-care prevents any burnout, while self-love reminds you that your value is not tied to material success. Self-worth empowers you to set healthy boundaries in both personal and professional relationships, while self-awareness allows you to grow, learn, and make decisions that align with your true purpose.

More entrepreneurs are talking about self-care, self-love, self-worth, and self-awareness because they've realized that success isn't just about financial gains or the fad of hustle culture.

The modern entrepreneurial journey often involves high levels of stress, burnout, and mental health challenges, which can negatively impact personal well-being and business growth. It often times leads to depression, anxiety and unhealthy addictions. By focusing on inner balance, entrepreneurs are finding they can make better decisions, stay creative, and maintain their energy for the long haul. This life is not a bunny race it is a turtle stride.

Additionally, conversations around mental health and work-life balance have become more mainstream, thanks to social media and evolving societal values. Entrepreneurs are now more open about the importance of their wellness and are seeing that prioritizing self-care leads to not only personal fulfillment but also long-term business sustainability. It's a shift from glorifying overwork to embracing a more holistic approach to success. Think about those people who heavily indulged in the “Team no sleep” culture. Often i’ll ask myself where are they now and what does their life look like as a result of that thinking?

When you invest in yourself, the ripple effect positively impacts your business, your children, and your community. Money will come, but maintaining inner peace and balance is what I believe is the key to long-term success and fulfillment.

Check out these actionable ways to focus and gain a better perspective and healthy balance.

1. Self-care:

Consider setting aside 10-15 minutes a day for yourself—whether it’s a quiet morning coffee, tea, smoothie or protein shake. A short walk, or a quick meditation will get you off to a good start. Consistency is key.

2. Self-love:

Practice daily affirmations. Write down your favorite ones and use them as mantras if you will. Remind yourself of your strength and value, especially when things get tough. You’ll remember these in those tough times and you’ll push through way better with them.

3. Self-worth:

Set clear boundaries in both your business and personal life. Shitting off phones at a certain time, having business hours and sticking to them and being honest with yourself so you reach your goals without burnout is important. Learn to say “no” without guilt to protect your time and energy and space.

4. Self-awareness:

Reflect regularly. Like a lot. Journaling or mindfulness exercises such as pilates, stretching, yoga can help you stay connected to your goals and identify areas for growth. It can also relieve any tension you may be holding.

Small, intentional steps can lead to big changes over time. Life is simple, why make it hard..
